Waxing Q&A

  • How long does my hair have to be for body waxing?

About 1/4 inch. The hair should lay flat and not poke upward. Do not shave the area to be waxed for at least 2 weeks.

  • Can I wax while pregnant?

YES. I'm highly experienced with waxing mommys-to-be! Your skin may be a little more sensitive during this time.

  • Can I wax on my period?

YES. You will need to wear a new tampon for intimate wax services. I provide tampons and wipes if you need any. Keep in mind you might be slightly more sensitive in the beginning of your cycle.

  • What are these bumps that appear after waxing?

Swollen follicles. When waxed, the hairs are pulled out of the follicle with force causing stress and inflammation. This swelling usually goes down by itself in a day or two. First time waxers are more likely to experience light inflammation. My post-wax product usually calms down swelling in less than 24 hours.

  • Age restrictions?

You must be 18 years of age or older.

BEFORE YOUR WAX

  • Lightly exfoliate the day before your wax
  • Keep skin hydrated at all times
  • Try to avoid caffeine/alcohol prior to your appointment (this will increase sensitivity)
  • Take a warm shower before appointment to open pores
  • Ibuprofen helps with discomfort
  • Bring an extra clean shirt to wear after a back wax
  • Wipes are provided to freshen up before intimate waxes

WAXING AFTERCARE

What to avoid for 24 hours:

  • Tight Clothing
  • Deodorants
  • Artificially Perfumed Products
  • Touching Waxed Areas
  • Intercourse (after intimate waxes)
  • Extreme Heat (saunas, hot tubs/baths)
  • Working Out
  • ANY Tanning
  • Any activities that might get you sweaty and therefore encourage bacteria to grow

What to avoid for 48 hours:

  • Swimming
  • Sun Bathing

Skincare:

  • EXFOLIATE to prevent ingrown hairs 72 hours after waxing using my sugar scrubs.
  • Continue to exfoliate at least 3x a week until your next appointment.
  • Make sure not to over exfoliate! This can do more harm than good (i.e. every day).
  • Wax every 4-6 weeks to keep those hairs at bay. Consistency leads to best regrowth results and a more comfortable waxing experience.
